Frame Type
Frame Type information is important for the processing of your eyeglass lenses to determine the correct lens thickness, and are grouped into three basic types, Full (metal / plastic), Semi Rimless (grooved), and Full Rimless (drilled).
Full Plastic Eyeglass Frame Full Plastic Eyeglass Frames made of zylonite, cellulose acetate, nylon etc. and has a frame (eyewire) that completely surrounds the lens.
Full Metal Eyeglass Frame Full Metal Eyeglass Frames made from a mixture of a broad range of metals and has a frame (eyewire) that completely surrounds the lens.
Semi Rimless (grooved) Eyeglass Frame Semi Rimless (grooved) Eyeglass Frames have no frame either on the bottom or top of the lens. Lenses are mounted to the frame by a thin "nylon" cord.
Full Rimless (drilled) Eyeglass Frame Full Rimless (drilled) Eyeglass Frames have no frame at all around the lens. Full Rimless eyeglasses come in three pieces (two temples parts and the bridge). The lenses are actually part of the strength of the frame.
